INDIAN LAND, SC ::::::::::: Mrs. Linda Harris McCorkle, age 68, of the Indian Land community, passed away Thursday night, October 18, 2012 after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was also a breast cancer survivor. Mrs. McCorkle retired from the Clemson Extension Service as a home economist after 25 years of service. She was born in Indian Land and graduated from Indian Land High School and Winthrop University. She was an avid quilter and a member of the Osceola Scrap Happy Quilters. She enjoyed being outdoors, working in the garden and enjoying nature. She was a member of Belair United Methodist Church.Mrs. McCorkle is survived by her husband, Don L. McCorkle of Indian Land, a son, Lynn P. McCorkle of Miami, Florida, two brothers; Jim Harris of Davidson, N.C. and Bobby Harris of Indian Land and a sister, Jeannie Harris Jamieson also of Indian Land. She enjoyed close relationships with her extended family members which included many aunts, uncles, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mrs. McCorkle was preceded in death by her father, Pinkney Spratt Harris, and her mother, Lucille Wilson Harris.The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. McCorkle will be 11:30am, Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Belair United Methodist Church in Indian Land by Rev. Harry Gindhart. The visitation will be before the service, from 10:00 - 11:30am at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice and Community Care of Rock Hill or any children's charity fund of ones choice.
