LANCASTER, SC :::::::::: Mr. Lewis E. McAteer age 93 of 3232 Charlotte Highway died Saturday June 4, 2011 at his home. Born in Lancaster County April 22, 1918 a son of the late Ernest Ervin McAteer and Ethel McGuirt McAteer and husband of the late Margaret Young McAteer. Mr. McAteer retired from Springs Industries Grace Bleachery, served our great country in the Army during World War II ,and was of the Baptist Faith Mr. McAteer is survived by 2 sons, Clyde McAteer and wife Myra of Lancaster, and Mike McAteer and wife Mary Jane of Ft. Lawn, 3 daughters, Elaine McAteer Pressley of Greenville, S.C. Dianne McAteer Snipes and husband Tommy and Judy McAteer Fowler both of Lancaster 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren 1 sister Mayme Jo McAteer Robinson of Lancaster. Mr. McAteer was preceded in death by brothers, Coleman , Ervin, Jim, A.B. and Heyward McAteer, sisters Idell McAteer Thompson Belk, Elizabeth McAteer Gordon, Oveta McAteer Everall, Doris McAteer Lemmond, and Etta McAteer HinsonThe Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. McAteer will be 3:00 pm Monday June 6 2011 at Hartley Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Charles McAteer and Rev. Don Waldrop burial to follow with military honors at Lancaster Memorial Park.The Family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Sunday evening, June 5, 2011 at Hartley Funeral Home and suggest memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Lancaster, or to a charity of your choice..
