LANCASTER, SC :::::::::: Mr. Lester Robert Starnes, age 79, died Sunday, February 14, 2010 at Agape Rehabilitation in Rock Hill. He was born February 22, 1930 in Lancaster, the son of the late Roy Maxwell Starnes and Ellie Griffin Starnes and was the husband of the late Laura Sue Baker Starnes. Mr. Starnes retired from the construction business, was a member of Victory Worship Center, and served our great country in the United States Army. Mr. Starnes is survived by a daughter, Sandra McClain of Lancaster, a son, David Starnes and his wife Kristie also of Lancaster, 3 grandchildren, Zachary McClain, Jacob and Owen Starnes, and a niece, Terry Robinson of Lancaster.Mr. Starnes was preceded in death by a brother, Mickey Boyd Starnes.The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Starnes will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at The Chapel of Hartley Funeral Home by Rev. Eddie Usher with burial to follow at Westside City Cemetery. The Family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Monday evening, February 15, 2010 at Hartley Funeral Home and suggest memorial contributions to the Humane Society of Lancaster, SC, 126 South Main Street, Lancaster, SC 29720.The Family will be at the home of his niece, Terry and Hazel Robinson, 526 Rock Hill Highway, Lancaster.
