KERSHAW, SC::::::::: Mr. Leonard "L.J." John Vincent, age 94, of 1018 Jones Road in the Buffalo Community, died November 20, 2010 at his home. He was born June 4, 1916 in Kershaw, the son of the late Leonard Robert Vincent and Pet Catoe Vincent and was the husband of the late Eva Mae Gardner Vincent. Mr. Vincent retired from Springs Industries - Kershaw Plant, was a member of the American Legion, the Nutrition Group and Buffalo Baptist Church where he served as former Deacon, Treasurer and RA Leader. Mr. Vincent served our great country in the United States Army during World War II and a former POW. He was very patriotic, loving anything that involved the American Flag and was one of the first veterans on the Freedom Flight to Washington. He also loved his family and especially attending great grandchildren's ball games. Mr. Vincent is survived by a son, Phil Vincent and his wife Joyce of Pontiac, SC, a daughter, Jean V. Cobb and her husband Jerry of Kershaw, 4 brothers, David Vincent and wife Naomi of Kershaw, John Wade "Shorty" Vincent and wife Edith of Kershaw, George Bruce Vincent and wife Ann of Birmingham, AL and Clarence Vincent and wife Nancy of Kershaw, 2 sisters, Harriett Walker of Florence, and Catherine Davis of Camden, 3 grandchildren, Amy Eubanks and husband Reggie, Tripp Cobb and wife Kelli and Garrett Vincent, and 3 great grandchildren, Joshua and Adam Eubanks and Hannah Cobb. Mr. Vincent was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Curtis, Frank and R.L. Vincent and a sister, Eva V. Gardner. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Vincent will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Buffalo Baptist Church by Rev. Donald Coppedge and Rev. James Way. Burial with military honors to follow in the church cemetery. The Family of Mr. Vincent will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Monday evening, November 22, 2010 at Buffalo Baptist Church and the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Buffalo Baptist Church, 6390 Lockhart Road, Kershaw, SC Heath Care Hospice of Kershaw.
