LANCASTER, SC –James Leonard Hinson, age 80, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 7, 2024. He was born May 29, 1944, son of the late Bruce Hinson and Mary Alice Harris Hinson and was the husband of Nancy Knight Hinson. Mr. Hinson loved his family very much and was a great husband, father, and grandfather. He was a hard worker, problem solver and entrepreneur. He made his living specializing in welding and steel fabrication. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, coin collecting, woodworking, traveling and spending time with his wife and family.

Leonard is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nancy Hinson; two brothers, Charles Hinson (Toni) and Hurley Hinson (Betty); five children, William "Eddie" Hinson (Donna), Charles "Chuck" Hinson (Sherry), Denise "Sissy" McGalliard, Jimmy Hinson (Ashley), and Susan Montgomery (Eric); 9 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Melvin Hinson and his parents Bruce Hinson and Mary Alice Harris Hinson.

The Celebration of Life Service for Leonard will be at 11:00am on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Patrick Blackmon.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am, one hour prior to the service, at Burgess Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorials may be made to Agape Care Group, 311 B North Main St., Lancaster SC 29720.
