LANCASTER, SC :::::::: The last child of Ola Arlene Stacks McManus and Henry Frank McManus passed away on July 30, 2012. Born February 3, 1923 in Lancaster County, South Carolina, Lennie Elizabeth McManus Carnes died at White Oak Manor following a short hospital stay. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers: Mary Frances "Peggy" McManus, Ruth Lorraine McManus, Mrs. Willa Huffstickler, Mrs. Lottie Reynolds, Sgt. James Reece McManus, and W. Preston McManus. Mrs. Carnes was 89. Surviving Lennie are her husband of 70 years, Sam Carnes, and their four children: Mrs. Brenda Fowler and her husband Larry and their children, Perry and Kimberly Fowler of Charlotte, NC, and Tim and Tammy Fowler of Spartanburg, SC; Mrs. Linda McCants and her husband Buck and their children, Capt. (USAF) Matthew McCants of Tucson, AZ, and Capt. (USAF) Michael McCants of Valdosta, GA; Samuel Glenn Carnes; and Darrell Carnes and his wife Kathie and their son, Darrell Jr. and his wife Missy. Also surviving her are two great-grandchildren, Chase and Marena Carnes. Mrs. Carnes was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church most of her adult life. She held many positions in the church and was once selected as the Immanuel Baptist Woman of the Year. In addition, she was a full-time working mom as a weaver trainer at Springs Mills, Inc. for over 30 years. Her life was spent devoted to her family, church, work, and friends who will now greatly miss her.A Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Carnes will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Immanuel Baptist Church by Rev. Tim Anderson. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.The Family of Mrs. Carnes will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 pm, Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Immanuel Baptist Church and the family suggests memorials be made to Immanuel Baptist Church or White Oak Manor Activity Fund, whose staff provided her with loving and professional care the last 8 years of her life.
