Obituary

ROCK HILL, SC:::::::::: Mr. Eldwin Lawton Horton, age 90, died Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Westminster Health and Rehab Center. He was born October 22, 1925 in Lake City, SC, a son of the late Fred Bascome Horton and Rose Long Horton and was the husband of Frances Knight Horton. He received an Associates Degree from Columbia Business School and later retired from Celanese Corporation after 36 years. Mr. Horton served our country in the United States Army during World War II and received a Purple Heart, Silver and Bronze Stars. He enjoyed working in his yard, gardening and freely sharing his harvest with his co-workers. Mr. Horton was a member of Rich Hill Baptist Church where he formerly serving as a Deacon and also in many other capacities over the years.

Mr. Horton is survived by his wife of 70 years, Frances Knight Horton; a son, Ed Horton, Jr. and his wife, Gail, of North Myrtle Beach; two daughters, Emily Horton Harper and her husband, Bob, and Sylvia Marshall and her husband, Tim, all of Rock Hill; a sister, Nan Joy of Columbia; five grandchildren, Rob Harper and his wife, Jenny, Ben Harper, John Horton and his wife, Emily, Jason Marshall and Julie Marshall; and ten great grandchildren, Emmi Beth, Zac and Delaney Harper, Shelley and Emma Harper, Parker and Maggie Horton, Emma, Ainsleigh and Anna Caroline Belden.

Mr. Horton was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred Bascome Horton, Jr. and Bob Horton.

The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mr. Horton will be 2:30 pm, Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Rich Hill Baptist Church by Rev. Rod Yow and Rev. Billy Knight.

The Family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service in the Family Ministry Building and at other times at the home of Emily and Bob Harper, 3020 Lake Wylie Dr., Rock Hill, SC. Memorial contributions may be made to Rich Hill Baptist Church, 1557 E. Doc Garris Rd., Heath Springs, SC 29058 or Interim Health Home and Hospice, 154 Amendment Ave., Suite 105, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
