LANCASTER, SC ::::::::::Mr. Laurie W. Stogner, beloved husband, father, and "Big Papa" died peacefully on August 7, 2008 following a brief illness. Born of the late Leroy W. Stogner and Addie S. Stogner, Laurie was a veteran of the US Navy, long-term Springs Industries employee, and most importantly, maintained a lifelong dedication to his Family and to his Church. He is survived by Lib, his wife of more than 60 years, two daughters, Terry Hendrix and Merry Vail, 6 grand and great grandchildren, Tessa Cox and her husband Chuck and daughter, Parker, and Scott Steele and his wife Carrie and children, River, Layla and Seneca, a sister, Annette Kruse and a brother, Redolph Stogner all of Lancaster.The Celebration of Laurie's Life will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, August 10, 2008 at Hartley Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Steve Neal with burial to follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.Laurie's family will receive friends one hour prior to services and in lieu of flowers suggest memorial contributions be made to Glenwood Heights Baptist Church, 600 Nichols Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
