Obituary

LANCASTER, SC – Mr. Larry D. Reece Williams, age 75, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. He was born on July 22, 1950 a son of the late Connie David Williams and the late Evelyn Johnson Williams, and was the beloved husband of Elizabeth Lowery Williams.

Larry was inducted into the Hall of Fame at Lancaster Motor Speedway, a testament to his lifelong love of racing. He spent many years announcing races both locally and afar, including events such as Hav A Tampa Late Model Sportsman races, NASCAR-sanctioned events, and World of Outlaws Sprint Car races. His voice and presence became a familiar and cherished part of the racing community.

Above all else, Larry deeply loved his family. Time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought him his greatest joy, and his family was truly the center of his life.

Music was another passion that deeply shaped Larry’s life. Over the years, he played with various bands and cherished the special opportunity to be part of a gospel group alongside his mother. His love for music extended beyond performances, as he built a music studio at his home to give teens a place to learn, grow, and develop their musical talents. He took great pride in teaching his grandson, Jeffrey, how to play the guitar. Larry also found joy in woodworking and gardening, hobbies that reflected his patience and creativity.

A faithful and active member of Antioch Baptist Church for many years, Larry dedicated his life to serving others and helping advance the Kingdom of God. Many will fondly remember him driving the tractor at The Great Antioch Pumpkin Patch, a role that brought smiles to countless faces.

Larry leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, music, service, and love that will be remembered by all who knew him.

Larry is survived by his wife of 57 and a half years, Elizabeth Williams; two sons, Rev. Jeff Williams (Nita) and Pastor Kevin Williams (Melanie); four grandchildren, Dr. Jeffrey S. Williams Jr. (Jenny), Christopher L. Williams, Austin D. Williams, and Rilie E. Williams; three great-grandchildren, Eli Williams, Micah Williams, and Isaiah “Zay Zay” Williams; and a brother, Ronnie Williams.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Williams; his parents, Connie Williams and Evelyn Williams; two brothers, J.D. Williams and Billy Williams; and two sisters, Betty Lou Starnes and Sara Good.
