LANCASTER, SC – Larry Wayne Hegler, passed away on Saturday, June 27th, 2026, at his home. Born on July 26th, 1949, the son of the late Wilson Mosure Hegler and the late Mary Alice Brown Hegler.

Larry had a lifelong passion for anything with an engine. He loved watching drag racing and dirt track racing and spent countless hours working on Volkswagens, racecars, and just about anything that needed fixing.

A self-employed mechanic by trade, Larry's work never truly ended - after a full day in the shop, he often looked forward to going home and spending even more time in his own garage. He was known for his ability to fix just about anything and took great pride in his craftsmanship. When he wasn't in the garage, Larry enjoyed spending time fishing, finding peace on the water with a rod in hand.

He is survived by his son, Timothy Wayne Hegler; his stepson, Todd Brown (Michelle); stepdaughter, Terri Sherill; his grandson, Skyler Hegler; several nieces and nephews, and his special friend, Matt Jones.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Mary Hegler; and his sister, Brenda Hayes.

The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Larry will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, July 8th, 2026, at Antioch Baptist Church of Lancaster, SC. The family will receive friends following the service.
