Fort Mill, SC ~ Larry V. Cramer, age 86, of 177 Melbourne Drive, Fort Mill, SC, formerly of Greenville, PA died on February 8, 2022. He was born March 3, 1935 in Greenville to Verne and Lola (Fry) Cramer.
He was a 1953 graduate of Penn High School, Greenville, PA. He attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania on a wrestling scholarship graduating in 1957 with a BS in Business Education. In 1960, he completed the Executive Training Program for General Electric Corporation. He also graduated from Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY with a Master of Business Administration. In addition, he received college credits from the University of Maryland, Kansas State University, and the University of Puget Sound.
He entered the military as a career Army officer at Fort Lee, VA in 1958. As a member of the Second Army wrestling team, he was undefeated. In Korea as a Department of the Army officer, he briefed Vice President Hubert Humphrey, Secretary of State Dean Rusk, the US Ambassador to Korea, various Congressmen and high level military flag officers. He has also published several articles on military logistics.
After 31 years, he retired from the U. S. Army as a Colonel. During this time he served in the Infantry, Airborne, Ranger and Logistics branches with duty assignments in Korea, Vietnam, Germany and the U.S., including two assignments at the Pentagon. Among his decorations were two Legions of Merit Medals, three Bronze Star Medals, two Meritorious Service Medals and three Army Commendation Medals.
He was a committed Christian and a current member of Calvary Church, Charlotte, NC. He has served on various church boards including having been a deacon and an elder.
He is survived by his wife, Louise; four sons, Steven, Michael, Matthew and Paul; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
