LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. Kenneth Shelton Simpson, age 71, of Lancaster passed away Saturday, July 24, 2021.   He was born in Wadesboro, NC the son of the late Harold Simpson and Colon Hinson Simpson.  Ken was owner and operator of J&K Heating and Air.  He was a retired fireman with Shiloh Zion Fire Department.  Ken attended Bethlehem Baptist Church where he loved to help cook for church functions.  He loved his family dearly and would do anything for them all.

Ken is survived by the love of his life and best friend of 21 years, Karen Flynn Blackmon; his children, Tambra S. Gardner (Phil), Jeffrey K. "Bobo" Simpson (Poppy), Brent Blackmon (Jennifer), Allison Blackmon, Cameron Benton and Emilie Benton; his grandchildren, Christopher Strickland (Crystal), Alexander Strickland (Nicole), Emilie Funderburk (Tyler), Candace Garris, Kendall Simpson, Zackery Blackmon, Chandler Simpson, Jake Simpson, Abby Blackmon, and Jaxon Riggins; his great grandchildren, Carlee Strickland, Kaydee Strickland, Addison Strickland, Marcus Strickland, Tucker Funderburk, Hunter Funderburk, Jaxson Hinson, and Kolby Hegler; a sister, Carol Walters (Mike); special friends whom he loved, John Tanner, Mark Smith, and Duane Dawley; and a large extended family.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Ken will be 11:00 am Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Bethlehem Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Patrick Blackmon and Rev. Zack Byrd.  Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at Burgess Funeral Home and other times at the home of Ken and Karen.  For those who wish, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
