IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ken
Points
February 23, 1943 – December 6, 2021
LANCASTER, SC ~ Kenneth Cy Ferrell Points, 78, of Lancaster, SC, passed away peacefully on the night of December 6th, 2021, surrounded by his loving and devoted daughter, and her husband. Ken passed away following insurmountable complications following emergency brain surgery.
Ken was born in 1943 to the late Alma Howard Ferrell and Kenneth Cy Ferrell in Trenton, NC. In addition to his parents, Ken was predeceased by his siblings, James "Buddy" Ferrell, Carol Tyndall, and Greg Stilley.
After graduating from high school, Ken served in the U.S. Army, U.S. Coast Guard, and the National Guard. Following an honorable discharge he began a career in law enforcement, serving in various capacities including Chief of Police in Columbia, NC.
In 1973, Ken married Margie Faile Culler, a native of Lancaster, SC, taking on the proud role of stepfather to Gordon, Marc, and Lisa, and was later blessed with their daughter, Kendall Leigh-Anne. He and Margie later established and jointly operated Leigh-Anne's Restaurant in Lancaster for many years.
In 1992, Ken was stricken with serious and debilitating health issues which resulted in a leg amputation that would leave him confined to a wheelchair for the remainder of his life. Despite this life altering event, Ken adapted and excelled for many years, partly due to the love he had for his family, but also because he was a fighter and possessed an undeniable stubborn streak. Throughout his life, he endured a number of obstacles and set-backs but seemed to always rally and persevere in spite of the odds. However, his body had weakened over the years and just wasn't strong enough to endure or conquer his latest health crisis. Thankfully, he is no longer suffering and is now at peace and resting in the arms of Jesus.
Ken had a selfless spirit that was evident in his generosity and service to others. He had the gift of gab, unique story-telling abilities, and enjoyed listening to and telling jokes. He was also quite the prankster! Ken spent many summers enjoying the company of others at the Primus Peach Stand. He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, a Mason, and a devoted Shriner.
Ken is survived by his only child and daughter, Dr. Kendall Leigh-Anne Points Blackmon and her husband, Jay, Kendall's mother, Margie Points, of Lancaster, SC, step-sons, Marc Culler, his wife, Wendy of Lancaster, SC, Gordon Culler, his wife, Benjie of High Point, NC, and step-daughter, Lisa Culler Richardson and husband, Jerry of Wilmington, NC. Ken was a loving and generous grandfather to his grandchildren: Taylor Blackmon, Courtney Blackmon, Cy Blackmon, Sean Walker, Jonathan Walker, LG Culler, Erin Poole, and Ben Horency and his great grandchildren: Lily Walker, Adalie Walker, Wilder Jenkins, Aedan Cole, Abby Poole, and soon-to-be Trace Rodgers. In addition, his siblings: Sandra Smith, Della McCain, Brent Stilley, and Mona Boyette, special nephew, Richard Smith, and a host of nieces and nephews that he loved dearly, and life-long friend, Glenn Goss, survive him.
