LANCASTER, SC – Mr. Kenneth Carson McManus, Sr., age 90, passed away Friday, October 31, 2025. He was born August 30, 1935, in Monroe, NC, the son of the late Kermit Carnes McManus and the late Gladys Aycoth McManus. He was the loving husband of the late Anne Funderburk McManus. Mr. McManus was the owner and operator of Ken's Heating and Air Conditioning and the Buford Car Wash. He was a happy, social man that enjoyed working, living in the Tabernacle community, and visiting with friends, especially at breakfast at Bojangles. Family was most important to him, and he loved them all dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. Mr. McManus was a member of the Tabernacle United Methodist Church.
Mr. McManus is survived by his son, Kenneth McManus, Jr. and his wife, Anita of Indian Land; his daughter, Valerie Simmeth and her husband, Gary of Waxhaw, NC; four grandchildren: Leslie Prophet (Shawn), Matthew McManus (Morgan), Natalie Tatum (Drew), and Tyler Simmeth (Taylor Boatwright); four great grandchildren: Carson and Virginia McManus, McKenna Tatum, and Charlotte Prophet; his sister, Ernestine (Teenie) Rowan; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Anne McManus; his parents, Kermit and Gladys McManus; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
The Celebration of Life Service for Mr. McManus will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Tabernacle United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Kendell Healy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 – 7:30 pm, Friday, November 7, 2025, at Burgess Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorials may be made to Tabernacle United Methodist Church, 5908 Tabernacle Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
