COLUMBIA, SC ~ Ms. Deborah Kay Fortune, age 67, passed away on July 20, 2025. Deborah was born on April 8, 1958, in Lancaster, SC, a daughter of the late William Keet Fortune, Jr. and the late Blake Polk Fortune. Kay was a 1976 graduate of Lancaster High School and a 1981 graduate of The University of South Carolina. She was an avid Gamecocks fan. Kay began her work career with the internationally known advertising firm Cook, Ruef and Associates in Columbia. She worked with political campaigns. Kay had several other positions in different firms over the years and finally settles into the catering business, primarily with Signature Catering at The Blue Marlin. She loved sports and was a member of the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame where she served as past president and director. She was an animal lover and always had cats or dogs in the house.
Kay is survived by her brother, Bill Fortune; her two nieces, Mary Beth White, and Lauren White (Ivan); and her nephew, Thomas White (Jo).
She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Blake Fortune.
The Celebration of Life Graveside Service for Kay will be 11:00 am Friday, July 25, 2025 at Lancaster Memorial Park officiated by Pastor Tom Corbell.
