LANCASTER, SC ~ Kathy Darlene Horton, age 61, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2025.  She was born June 22, 1963, a daughter of the late Charles William Horton and the late Carolyn Ann Jones and was the loving wife of Jimmie Whetstone. Kathy's biological mother, Carolyn, passed away when Kathy was just a small child, and she was then raised by Pat Horton who loved her dearly. She was a woman who truly embraced life, living every day with a radiant spirit and an open heart. Her glowing personality naturally drew people in, and she was surrounded by so many who loved and cared for her. Kathy's strength was undeniable. She faced life's challenges with resilience and fought every battle with a courageous heart. Even when faced with cancer, she never let it steal her positivity or her love for those around her. Her family meant the world to her, and she treasured every moment spent with them and her friends. She had a caring soul, always there for others in their time of need, offering support, love, and kindness. Kathy was a beautiful person inside and out, and her impact on the lives of those who knew her will never be forgotten. She lived, she loved, and she shined.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Jimmie Whetstone; her daughter, Tosha Bryson; a brother, Chris Horton (Lisa); two aunts, Mary Gardener and Peggy Brightwell; a niece, Sky Eddings (Patrick); a great-niece, Elena Eddings; a close cousin, Kricket Arbaugh; along with Jimmie's children, Shawn Whetstone, Tina Whetstone, Aliyah Murphy and Malissa Murphy; his brothers, Bobby Whetstone, John Whetstone and Stanley Whetstone; his sister, Katha W. Rainey; his nieces and nephews, Carlos Whetstone, Shatonga Rainey, Erma Rainey and Khadijah Rainey; and also a good friend, Franklin "Pete" Perdue, whom she was a caretaker for and loved like family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Carolyn Horton; along with Mrs. Pat Horton; a brother, Robert Horton; and a sister, Sherry Christmas.
