LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Kathy Elaine Love Blackmon, age 74, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2024.  She was born September 10, 1949, in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Donald Evans Love and the late Christine N. Hunter Love. Kathy enjoyed watching tv, especially In the Heat of the Night, cooking for her family, spending time with her family, and staying busy. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and her world revolved around them. She loved watching them in their sports, and never missed a game. Kathy was a Cubby Care worker at Carolina Christian Academy and loved taking care of her cubbies.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Carson "Cartie" Blackmon; two sons, Brian Blackmon, and his wife, Laurie, and Brad Blackmon, and his wife, Charlene; five grandchildren, Karsyn Blackmon, Kaley Catoe, Aubrie Blackmon, Talen Blackmon, and Zaine Blackmon; two great grandchildren, Asher Catoe, and Cohen Catoe; two sisters, Teresa Couch, and her husband, Randall, and Gail Gillis, and her husband, Carlton; and a large extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Christine Love; and her niece, Dana Garris.

The Celebration of Life Service for Kathy will be 3:00 pm Monday, February 12, 2024, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Kerry Blackmon and Dr. Jessie Adams. Private burial will follow at a later date.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at Burgess Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorials may be made to Make-A-Wish® South Carolina, 225 South Pleasantburg Drive C17, Greenville, SC 29607.
The family will also receive friends Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and Sunday, February 11, 2024 from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm at the home of Gail and Carlton Gillis.
