LANCASTER, SC . Mrs. Kathleen "Pete" Pierce Whitley, age 93, died Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born September 24, 1916 the daughter of the late Valor Pierce and was the wife of the late Rupert Calvin "R.C." Whitley. Mrs. Whitley retired from Springs Industries and attended Union Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Monroe, NC. Mrs. Whitley was last remaining member of her immediate family; survived by her nephew and caregiver, William "Bill" Whitley and his wife Nancy of Lancaster and several other nieces and nephews. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Whitley will be 2:00 pm Saturday, April 17, 2010 at The Chapel of Hartley Funeral Home by Rev. Newell Helms and Rev. Wayne Dickson with entombment to follow at Lancaster Memorial Park Mausoleum.The Family of Mrs. Whitley will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Friday, April 16, 2010 at Hartley Funeral Home and in lieu of flowers suggest memorial contributions to Union Grove Primitive Baptist Church, 3619 Morgan Mill Road, Monroe, NC 28110 or Beulah Presbyterian Church, 8305 Landsford Road, Monroe NC 28112
