LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Sarah Kathleen Bowers Walters, age 89, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019 at Heath Springs Residential Center.  She was born April 25, 1930 in Lancaster the daughter of the late Jesse Bowers and Sadie Bowers and was the wife of the late James Brown "JB" Walters.  Mrs. Walters loved life.  She was raised on a farm where she enjoyed being outside, working in her garden, being on a tractor, and loved animals, especially dogs.  Her hobbies included sewing and crocheting.  She was a part of the Gideon Auxiliary.  Mrs. Walters loved being a member of Sherwood Baptist Church.

Mrs. Walters is survived by two nephews, Gerald Bowers (Genie) and Donald Gene Walters (Sarah); a niece, Michelle B. Boone (David); two great nephews, Tim Bowers (Michelle) and Donnie (Marlo); three great nieces, Cindy Vincent (Greg), Jennie (Billy) and Susie (Steve); three great-great nieces, Jessica Sullivan (Jeffery), Haley Vincent and Hannah Vincent; and a great-great-great niece, Adaline Nicole Sullivan.

Mrs. Walters was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, JB Walters; four brothers, Ervin Bowers, IW Bowers, Allen Bowers, Paul T. Bowers; and three sisters, Nell Bowers, Annie Brown Bowers, and Iva Walters.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Walters will be 3:00 pm, Thursday, May 9, 2019 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Rusty McAllister.  Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, and suggest memorial contributions be made to Gideons of Lancaster, PO Box 1302, Lancaster, SC 29721.
