MARVIN, NC::::: Dr. Katherine Strong Barnes, DVM, age 33, died Tuesday, January 21, 2013. She was born September 22, 1980 in Charlotte, NC the daughter of James "Jim" Strong and Barbara Smith Strong and was the wife of Shaun Barnes. Mrs. Barnes received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Georgia, and worked in Research and Development for Nutramax Laboratories, Inc.

Dr. Barnes is survived by her husband, Shaun Barnes of Marvin, NC, her father, James "Jim" Strong of Charlotte, NC, her mother, Barbara Smith Strong of Frankfurt, IN, 2 brothers, Matthew Maxwell of Chicago, IL and Andrew Maxwell of Blaine, WA.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Dr. Barnes will be 12:30 pm, Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Larkspur Ranch by Father Filmore Strunk, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Mecklenburg Hounds, Inc., 7606 Sims Road, Waxhaw, NC 28173.
