LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Karen Kale Painter, age 79, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021 at her home. She was born December 3, 1941 in Bessemer City, NC, the daughter of the late Ralph and Beatrice Kale and was the wife of Jim Painter.  Karen retired from Duracell as an Occupational Nurse.  She enjoyed reading and going to the beach.  Karen loved her family, especially her grandchildren.  She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, and helped with Sunday School and VBS.

Karen is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jim Painter; two daughters, Kim Crump (Judson) and Lynne Funderburk (Brent); and four grandchildren, Claire Crump, Anna Funderburk, Sarah Crump, and Will Funderburk.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents.

The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Karen will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, Choir Fund, 1152 Great Falls Hwy., Lancaster, SC 29720.
