LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Karen Huffstickle Harper, age 73, passed away Monday, December 18, 2017 at her home. She was born November 9, 1944 in Lancaster, the daughter of the late Francis Frank Huffstickle and Juanita McMurray Huffstickle and was the wife of Arthur Eugene Cricket Harper. Karen was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse from Barnett Family Practice. She enjoyed craft shows, antiques and spending time with her friends. She was a caregiver for others and always put others before herself. Karen was very involved with the American Cancer Society, the Lancaster Childrens Home and was a member of Camp Creek Senior Citizens. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, the Joy Club and the Fidelis Sunday School Class but her greatest joy was her grandchildren.
Karen is survived by her husband of 52 years, Arthur Eugene Cricket Harper; two sons, Tim Harper and his wife, Becky and Chris Harper and his wife, Melanie; and four grandchildren, Megin Harper, Richie Harper, Madeline Harper and Joshua Rhyner.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Jimmy Huffstickle.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Karen will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 23, 2017 at New Hope Baptist Church by Rev. Steven Pace and Rev. Bliss Steele.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Friday evening, December 22, 2017 at Burgess Funeral Home and suggest in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to New Hope Baptist Church, 3731 Lynwood Drive, Lancaster, SC 29720, Lancaster Childrens Home, PO Box 416, Lancaster, SC 29721, American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210 or the American Diabetes Association, P.O.
