June Hogue went to be with the Lord on September 1, 2022. She was born May 21, 1934, in Old Hickory, Tennessee, the daughter of Rubye and Herman F. Carroll. She graduated from DuPont High School in Old Hickory and Samford University in Birmingham AL where she earned a BS in General Studies. She was proceeded in death by her husband Bill Hogue and survived by her son Stephen R. Puckett, Sr. (Beth), step-children Tony Hogue (Maura) Tracy Berger, (Todd) and nine grandchildren: Stephen Puckett, Jr., Mitchell Puckett (Abby), Mary Blake Morehouse (Raymond), Laura Fout (Wyatt), Logan Hogue (Caroline), Tanner Hogue ((Samantha) and Dalton Hogue, Travis Berger and Tyler Berger. She and Bill also enjoyed 15 great grandchildren: Blair, Woodson and Walker Puckett, Rowan, Gus and Penny June Morehouse, Whitt and Ella Fay Fout, Jacob, Stone, Scarlett, Gunnar Hogue and Maverick, Eden and Piper Hogue.
She was employed in 1954 by Southern Bell in Nashville, TN, in the Engineering Department. In 1968 she was transferred to the new South Central Bell's headquarters in Birmingham, AL. She retired in 1985 as a manager with AT&T in New Jersey and subsequently she and Bill began Real Estate Appraising in New Jersey. In 1991 she and Bill relocated to Highlands, NC, and became licensed as Certified Real Estate Appraisers, forming Highlands Appraisal Company in 1992 and worked throughout Highlands, Cashiers, Sapphire, Sylva and Franklin. They sold the business in November of 2007. In September of 2015 she and Bill moved to SunCity Carolina Lakes in Indian Land, SC.
The most important decision she made was to accept Jesus Christ as her personal savior at a young age. She was an accomplished musician playing both the organ and piano in First Baptist Church in Old Hickory, Tennessee; Shades Mountain Baptist Church and Green Valley Baptist Churches in Birmingham, AL; Somerset Hills Baptist Church in Basking Ridge, NJ and First Baptist Church in Highlands, NC. She also served as accompanist for the Highlands Community Christian Chorale and several of their presentations. She served as a Sunday School teacher of young people in several of the churches where she was a member. She served on the Board of the Highlands Playhouse, as a volunteer at the Hudson Library, and enjoyed participation in various activities in Highlands, NC.
June's faith in Jesus was the cornerstone of her life. She wanted others to learn of her Lord so she faithfully supported a Christian based ministry serving Guyana, South America.
