LAURENS, SC:::::Mrs. Julia Bowers Hyatt, age 75, died October 25, 2016. She was born December 14, 1940, the daughter of the late Frances Lloyd Bowers and Louise Brigman Bowers. Mrs. Hyatt retired from Lancaster County School District, after 28 years, where she was a media specialist at McDonald Green Elementary School. She was very much a person that enjoyed all types of crafts. She had a jewelry and cross stitched art exhibit at the Lancaster County Arts Council Center. Mrs. Hyatt was a member of the Reading Council, SCASL- South Carolina Association for School Librarians, and a former member of the Lancaster County Garden Club. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with friends and her family, especially her grandchildren and her cat, Bubbie. Mrs. Hyatt was a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Hyatt is survived by two sons, James Lewis Jimmy Hyatt, III and wife, Chris, of Lake Ridge, VA, and Donald Lloyd Hyatt and wife, Kathy, of Rock Hill; a daughter, Luanne Hendricks Taylor and husband, Dale of Gray Court, Laurens; two sisters, Marie Bowers Copeland of Charleston and Libby Bowers Fain of Spartanburg; nine grandchildren, Khrista LaRose, Lorie Whisonant, Richard Hyatt, Hayley McDonald, Matthew C. Hyatt, Andrew Thompson, Madeline Carwile, Hyatt M. Hendricks, and Julia V. Hendricks; five great grandchildren, Henry M. Hendricks, Vincent LaRose, Luke McDonald, Reid McDonald and Hannah Hyatt.
Mrs. Hyatt was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Julia Melissa Hyatt.
The Service of Remembrance for Mrs. Hyatt will be Saturday, October 29, 2016, at 2:00 PM, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Rev. Heather Humphries. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, from 1:00-2:00 pm, at Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster, SC and suggest in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Tabernacle United Methodist Church, 5908 Tabernacle Road, Lancaster, SC 29720. Following the service, a private burial will be held at Westside Cemetery.
