LANCASTER, SC ~ Ms. Judy Carol Hinson Stacks, 78, of Lancaster, SC, passed away Friday, July 5, 2024. Judy was born in Lancaster County, SC, a daughter of the late James Jackson Hinson and Frances Pauline "Polly" Hinson on May 21, 1946. She attended Buford High School, where she graduated in 1964. After school, Judy worked for Springs Industries in Lancaster, SC (the Lancaster Plant of the Springs Cotton Mills), where she worked for 40 years until her retirement in 2004. From there, she went to work for Walmart in Lancaster, SC, where she worked for 19 years until her retirement in 2023.
Judy was a kind, thoughtful, and loving Mama, MawMaw, Great MawMaw, sister, aunt and friend. She was continuously concerned for the well-being and safety of others, especially her son, grandchildren and family. Judy's unwavering love and commitment to her family was undeniable, not only through her words but her daily actions throughout her entire life. Doing things for those she loved and staying in contact with extended family and friends was very important to her.
Judy is survived by her son, Richard Stacks (Sharon); five grandchildren, Taylor Stacks (Justin) of Jefferson, SC, Bailey Stacks (Cash) of Lancaster, SC, Damien McElveen (Hannah) of Kershaw, SC, Morgan Mathis (Gunner) and Cassie Bailey of Lancaster, SC; four great-grandchildren, Jennings, Kammi, Weston, and Archer; and one brother, Allan Hinson, Sr. of Lancaster, SC.
In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Hinson of Bennettsville, SC, and the love of her life, Larry "PawPaw" Stacks of Lancaster, SC.
Judy was a member of High Point Baptist Church of Lancaster, SC, and was a devoted Christian and servant of the Lord. She loved going to church and helping with the children during Sunday School. Judy truly loved her church family and always looked forward to Christian fellowship with her Senior Citizens group.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Judy will be held at High Point Baptist Church in Lancaster, SC, on Friday, July 12, 2024. The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary at 10 am and the service will begin at 11 am. The burial will be held immediately after the service at High Point Baptist Church Cemetery. The Reverends Bobby Joyner and Eddie Thompson will officiate, and Burgess Funeral Home & Crematory Directors are caring for the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests any memorials be made to High Point Baptist Church Prayer Garden, 1888 Rocky River Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
