LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Judy Mildred Hyatt Rushing, age 81, passed away Friday, June 23, 2023. She was born November 6, 1941, in Lancaster, a daughter of the late William Henry "W.H." Hyatt and Mildred Stogner Hyatt and was the wife of C.F. "Sonny" Rushing. Mrs. Rushing was an avid tennis player and while in high school was a State Champion Basketball player. She loved the beach, and she was cofounder of PHD and she loved her PHD sisters. To all her beloved grandpups, she was lovingly known as "Mama J". Mrs. Rushing was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Rushing is survived by her husband of 60 years, C.F. "Sonny" Rushing; two daughters, Sunni Lynn Walters (Steve) and Amye Rushing; her brother, Johnny Hyatt; a large extended family; and many wonderful friends.

Mrs. Rushing was preceded in death by her parents, W.H. and Mildred Hyatt; and her sister, Barbara Privette.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Rushing will be 2:00 pm Monday, June 26, 2023, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Kevin Cooley. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at Burgess Funeral Home and other times at the home of Don and Betsy Rushing.
