LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Judy Elaine Bowers Hartley, age 75, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, at her home. She was born on September 9, 1950, in Lancaster, SC, a daughter of the late Melvin Alton Bowers and the late Annie Hudson Bowers and was the loving and devoted wife of the late William Bobby Hartley.

She was a devoted member of Lancaster First Pentecostal Holiness Church, where her faith was the foundation of her life. She found great joy in reading God's Word and listening to it being preached, especially when her beloved son, Matt, was behind the pulpit. She never missed an opportunity to share the love of Christ with others and was a constant source of encouragement to everyone she met. Her favorite saying, "Go make a difference. Go MAD," reflected the way she lived each day—with purpose, compassion, and a desire to leave the world better than she found it.

She also cherished her work family at Kimbrell's Furniture and genuinely loved her job. Above all, she treasured her family. Whether spending time together or simply talking with her beloved grandchildren, those moments brought her the greatest happiness.

Mrs. Hartley is lovingly survived by her two sons, Matthew “Matt” Jason Hartley (Blair) of Arkansas and Joshua “Josh” Caleb Hartley of Tennessee; her step-son, William Todd Hartley; her two step-daughters, Rhonda Sue Hartley McManus (Frankie) and Amanda Jill Hartley Shaw (David); four grandchildren, Samuel Uri Hartley, Selah Reign Hartley, Shiloh Zoe Hartley, and Sion Esther Hartley; two step-grandchildren, Thomas Shaw and Jessica Shaw; a brother, Michael Glenn Bowers; a sister, Rebecca Ann Bowers Oczkowski; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William Bobby Hartley; her parents, Melvin Alton Bowers and Annie Hudson Bowers; and a brother, Tracy Melvin Bowers.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Hartley will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Lancaster First Pentecostal Holiness Church officiated by Pastor Tommy Ross, Pastor Tame Lambert, and Pastor Matt Hartley. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, the night before on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Burgess Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, 303 East Wacker Drive, Suite 2300, Chicago, IL 60601-5224.
