ROCK HILL, SC ~ Mrs. Elsie Joy Dees Zimmerman, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022. She was born August 7, 1931, the daughter of the late Cecil Dees and Jeanette Holcomb Dees and was the wife of the late Earl Kenneth Zimmerman. Mrs. Zimmerman enjoyed being a receptionist at Palm Beach Jr. College in Florida and later retired from Belk in Lancaster. She was an artist who loved painting and shopping. She especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Zimmerman was a member of the Reformation Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Zimmerman is survived by her sons, Larry Earl Zimmerman (Pam), and David Kenneth Zimmerman (Debbie); her daughter, Patti Zimmerman Nelson (Larry); nine grandchildren, Jason Zimmerman (Elizabeth), Lauren Zimmerman, Brett Zimmerman, Beth Groeber (Micah), Neil Mauney, Jessica B. Hicks (Kyle), Daniel Zimmerman (Sara), Jeff Zimmerman (Kathleen), and Shaun Boling; eight great grandchildren, Lilly Zimmerman, Sawyer Zimmerman, Hunter Zimmerman, Graham Groeber, Remy Groeber, Allison Zimmerman, Harper Zimmerman, Hudson Hicks, and two on the way.

Mrs. Zimmerman was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and brother, Bernard Dees.

The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mrs. Zimmerman will be 2:00 pm Saturday, July 9, 2022, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Josh Tucker.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 pm, prior to the service, at Burgess Funeral Home.
