LANCASTER, SC::::::: Ret. US Air Force Colonel Joseph David Matlock, age 74, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at his home. He was born September 10, 1939 in Pottsville, PA the son of the late Joseph Matlock and Elizabeth McKiernan Heffner and was the husband of Karen Schrimpf Matlock. Mr. Matlock was the owner and attorney of Matlock Law Firm and a retired Colonel for the US Air Force. He served our great country in the Vietnam War and Desert Shield and was awarded the Legion of Merit award in 1992.

Mr. Matlock is survived by his wife, Karen Matlock of the home, a son, David Matlock of Philadelphia, PA, 3 daughters, Michelle O'Brien and her husband Robert of Boston, MA, Catherine Matlock-Shally and her husband Rudolph of Amsterdam, and Samantha Matlock and her husband George of Philadelphia, PA, 5 grandchildren, Jennifer Matlock, Liam O'Brien, Amelia O'Brien, Lena Shally and Samo Shally and 3 great grandchildren.

The Family of Mr. Matlock will receive friends at his home from 4:00 - 6:00 pm Saturday, April 5, 2014. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorials to be made to South Carolina Autism Society, 806 12th Street, West Columbia, SC 29169 or www.scautism.org .
