LANCASTER, SC ::::::::::Mr. Joseph "Joe" Lee Butts, age 59, of 1361 Smokey Starnes Road, died Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Carolinas Medical Center. He was born September 12, 1949 in Center Point, IN the son of the late Edward T. Butt and Leona Everhart Butt and was the fianc of Judy Knight. Mr. Butts was a retired Police Officer for the City of Fort Mill, served our great country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was of the Methodist faith.Mr. Butts was survived by his fianc, Judy Knight of the home, a step daughter Sherri Davis of Lancaster, 5 brothers; his twin, Jim Butt and his wife Peggy, Jack Butt and his wife Sharon, Ross Allen and his wife Diane, Rusty Knoy and his wife Connie, John Allen and his wife Punky, 5 sisters, Shandra Moss, Marge Evans and her husband Bob, Julie Burns and her husband Wayne, Doris Cooksey and her husband Roger, and Myra Higgins all of Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Butts will be 2:00 pm Monday, December 15, 2008 at Hartley Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Donald Tillman with burial to follow at Lancaster Memorial Park. The Family of Mr. Butts will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm tonight, December 14, 2008 at Hartley Funeral Home and suggest memorial contributions be made to Charity of One's Choice.
