LANCASTER, SC:::::::::: Mr. John Walter Ward, age 64, died Friday, August 6, 2015 at his home. He was born April 18, 1951 in Rock Hill, the son of the late William Elmore and Pearlie Mae Archie Ward and was the husband of Debbie Stogner Ward. Mr. Ward was a self-employed carpenter and served our great country in United States Marine Corps. He was wonderful father and husband and a friend to all. Mr. Ward was kind hearted, loved animals and enjoyed the outdoors. He enjoyed camping and spending time at the beach.

Mr. Ward is survived by his wife, Debbie Stogner Ward; a son, John Walter Ward, Jr. of Lancaster; two step-daughters, Leanne Phillips of Fort Mill and Tina Phillips of Charlotte; six grandchildren, Luke McClain, David Allen Jackson, Dillion Knight, Jacob Jackson, Krista Knight and Justin Jackson; one brother, Billy Ward of Lancaster; a sister, Kathy Moulton and her husband Warren of Lancaster.

Mr. Ward was preceded in death by a daughter, Candice Knight and a brother Ricky Ward.

The Celebration of Life Memorial Service with Military Honors for Mr. Ward will be 2:00 pm Monday, August 10, 2015 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home 1800 Charlotte Hwy. Lancaster, SC 29720 by Rev. Lynn Hough.

The Family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 pm Monday, August 10, 2015 prior to the memorial service at Burgess Funeral Home and suggest memorial contributions be made to Children's Miracle Network 1221 E Morehead St, Charlotte, NC 28204
