LANCASTER, SC – Mr. John Charles Murphy, age 73, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2025. He was born December 15, 1951, son of the late John William Murphy and the late Shirley Loretta Eirman Murphy and was the husband of Mary (Maureen) Murphy.John is survived by his wife of 43 years, Maureen; his daughter, Claire; his sisters and nieces; good friends; and many beloved former students and fellow chefs. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Shirley; his aunt and uncle, Carol and William Peters; and his great-uncle, Fred.

The Celebration of Life Service for John will be at 11:00 am on Monday, June 9, 2025, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Timothy Espar. The family will receive friends following the service in the foyer.
