LANCASTER, SC~ Mr. John Paul McDevitt, age 67, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2018 at his home. John was born November 28, 1950 in Passaic, NJ, son of the late William A. McDevitt, Jr. and Eleanor Weaver McDevitt and was the loving and devoted husband of Janice Armstrong McDevitt. John served in the Army Reserves and worked as a Comptroller for the United States Army for 38 years. He was a man of integrity, generosity, honesty and was always there to lend a helping hand. John enjoyed fishing, golfing and gardening. John touched the lives of so many people over the years as a friend, a teacher, a mentor and a trusted confidant.
John is survived by his wife of 44 years, Janice; a son, Glendon Glen McDevitt and his wife, Genevieve; two grandchildren, Lily and Ayden all of Fort Mill, SC; and a sister, Reny Rose of Boise, Idaho.

John was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William McDevitt, III.

The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for John will be 3:00 pm Saturday, March 31, 2018 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Father Javier Heredia. Following the service, friends and family are invited to a reception at the home of Mr. and Mrs. McDevitt.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 2:00 - 3:00 pm, at Burgess Funeral Home and in lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Pancreatic Cancer Action, 1500 Rose Crans Ave., Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.
Through his life, Johns faith in God was strong and never wavered.
