FORT MILL, SC ~ Mr. John Thomas Allen, 72, passed away on January 21, 2020 at Atrium Health-Pineville. He was born on August 14, 1947 in Alexander, VA a son of the late Ellroy Allen and Dorothy Ayers Allen and was the husband of Barbara Jean Taylor Allen.  Mr. Allen was a Budget Analyst with the United States Department of Defense. His hobbies included cutting grass, landscaping, trips to Cherokee, and boating.  Mr. Allen was a such a fun person to be around.  He was of the Methodist faith.

Mr. Allen is survived by his wife of 37 years, Barbara Jean Allen; a brother, Robert Allen of Berlin, MD; a sister-in-law, Martha Allen of Alexander, VA; a niece, Nancy Ramsey of Alexander, VA; and many friends.

Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Richard Allen.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Hwy., Lancaster, SC 29720 by Rev. Marty Simmons.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, and suggest memorial contributions be made to a charity of one's choice.
