LANCASTER, SC ~ Joel "Joey" Benjamin Hammond, age 56, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023. He was born January 6, 1967, in Lancaster, a son of the late Melvin Lee Hammond Jr. and the late Sylvia Claudette Moore Hammond. Joey loved hunting, fishing, and watching football.

Joey is survived by his son, Joel Scott Hammond, and his wife, Caylen; his granddaughter, Ellie Hammond; the mother of his son, Charlene Hammond; three brothers, Phillip Hammond, Charlie Hammond, and Melvin "Bubba" Hammond; his sister, Becky Marvin, and her husband, Todd; four nieces, Anna Hammond, McKenzie Cobb (Seth), Karlie Hammond, and Kelsie Ward (Alex); two nephews, Charles Ray Hammond, and Austin Marvin; one great niece, Jessa Cobb; and a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Sylvia Hammond.

The Celebration of Life Service for Joey will be 11:00 am Friday, November 10, 2023, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Rev. David Sellers.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Burgess Funeral Home.
