FORT LAWN, SC ~ Mrs. Joeann Hopkins Privette, age 81, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2020 at her home.  She was born January 10, 1939 in Kershaw, SC, a daughter of the late William "Bill" Carson Hopkins and Maybell "Lizzie" Delay Hopkins and was the wife of Melvin Privette.  Mrs. Privette enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, and canning her garden vegetables.  She was a very sweet humble lady.  Her family was her world and she loved spending time with them.  Mrs. Privette was a member of Lando Church of God and she loved her church family.

Mrs. Privette is survived by her husband of 59 years, Melvin Privette; her son, Mel Privette (Melissa); her daughter, Tonya M. Stepp (Clifford); eight grandchildren, Jolottie Hunter, Jasmine Stepp, Cordell Stepp, Marshall Stepp, Mark Stepp, Jay Stepp, Bryson Privette, and Brenton Privette; six great grandchildren, Maysie Hunter, Adeline Hunter, Miranda Stepp, Eva Ray, Zanzibar Ray, and Zolton Ray; four sisters, Judy Rabon, Vivian Hare (Larry), Louvenia Hopkins, and Donna Gross (Wayne); and three brothers, Bobby Hopkins, Pee Joe Hopkins, and Ric Hopkins.

Mrs. Privette was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Maranda Privette; her parents; two brothers, Pee Wee Hopkins, and Billy Ray Hopkins; a brother-in-law, Troy Rabon; and two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Hopkins, and Shirley Hopkins.

The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mrs. Privette will be 2:00 pm Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Lando Church of God in Lando, SC officiated by Rev. Edward Harris and Rev. Ricky McManus.
