Obituary

Mr. Joe Will JW Phillips, age 80, died Friday, September 23, 2016 at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill. He was born, August 27, 1936 in, Kershaw County, a son of the late Minton Wesley Phillips and Deannie Robinson Phillips and was the husband of Kathy Hinson Phillips. Mr. Phillips retired from Springs Industries. He was a family man that loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed reading western books and watching old Westerns. Mr. Phillips was not only a family man, but a great man of God that loved his church where he served as a Deacon, sang in the choir and would do anything in this world for others. You received a blessing just being in his presence. Mr. Phillips was a Gamecock fan and loved all sports. He was a member of White Springs Baptist Church

Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife of 21 years, Kathy Phillips; a son, Marti Phillips; a step son, Larry Williams; a daughter, Lisa Phillips Edwards and her husband, Guil; a brother, Minton Phillips and his wife Carol; a sister, Joyce Watts; six grandchildren, Ben, Phillip, Christopher, Jessica, Bridget and Drew; three great grandchildren, Jared, Kaeleigh, Jenson and a grandson due in November; a sister-in-law, Frankie Phillips and many special family members, Catherine Blackmon, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Joey Phillips; Mary Ruth Phillips, the mother of his children; a brother, Donnie Phillips; three sisters, Ethel, Dot and Faye; and a grandson, Peyton.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Phillips will be 3:00 pm Monday, September 26, 2016 at White Springs Baptist Church by Rev. Don Waldrop and Rev. Mike Hammond. Burial will follow at Kershaw City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 3:00 pm Monday in the church Family Life Center and suggest memorial contributions be made to White Springs Baptist Church, Family Life Center, 1249 Grace Ave., Lancaster, SC 29720.
