LANCASTER, SC – Mr. Jody Burnette Hartley, age 55, tragically passed away Friday, February 21, 2025, as a result of a hit-and-run accident in Monroe, NC. He was born August 11, 1969, in Lancaster to the late Bobby Hartley and Margaret Whitaker Pardue. Jody graduated from Buford High School in 1987. He was an avid Washington Redskins fan and enjoyed dirt track racing, fishing and spending time with his daughter. Jody was an assistant manager currently employed with Union Flora in Monroe, NC. His daughter Cierra, his "babygirl" was the light of his life. He cherished every moment spent with her and was so proud of her and her accomplishments.

He is survived by his daughter, Cierra Hartley; the mother of his daughter, Claudia Hartley; the grandmother of his daughter, Debbie Hodge; his three siblings, Melissa Rushing (Clark), Bo Hartley (Jennifer), and BJ Hartley (Alison); former brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Susan Duell; his nieces and nephews, Steven and Savannah Duell, Rocky Rushing (Nikki), Carly Tucker (Garrett), Jessica Powers, Garrett Hartley, Karah Hartley Ward (Zach), Maloree Wheeler, and Alyssa Hartley; many great nieces and nephews; his half siblings, Michelle, Lisa, and Bubba Pardue; and a large extended family, work family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Hartley; his mother, Margaret Pardue; former father-in-law, Gene Hodge; and his two cousins who were like brothers, Wayne Hartley, and Timmy Hartley.

The Celebration of Life Service for Jody will be 3:00pm Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Zion Church, 1665 Zion Rd. Lancaster SC, 29720. A private burial will follow at a later date at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Monday, February 24, 2025, at Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Hwy. Lancaster, SC 29720.
