LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Barbara "Joann" Hinson Stewart, age 85, passed away Friday September 23, 2022. She was born August 31, 1937, in Lancaster, daughter of the late Katherine Lucille Hinson and was the wife of the late Calvin Finley Stewart. Mrs. Stewart worked over 40 years for Springs Industries sewing fitted sheets and after retirement worked 18 years at Second Baptist WEE School. She enjoyed traveling with her senior group, going to the beach, and working in her flowers. Mrs. Stewart was a member of Second Baptist Church for almost 60 years where she was part of the Senior Circle and was also a member of the Oasis Club at First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Stewart is survived by her two daughters, Becky Beard (Randy) and Wanda Knight (Willard); four grandchildren, Heather Knight (Andrew), John Knight (Kristin), Jennifer Knight (AJ), and Danielle Roof (Trevor); seven great grandchildren, Brooklyn Truesdale, Cana Knight, Ava Gunthrope, Blayke Truesdale, Cara Knight, Rose Gunthrope, and Paisleigh Roof; her brother, John William Hinson; brother-in-law, Gerald Stewart; one niece; three nephews; and her beloved dog, Cocoa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Finley Stewart, her son, Wesley Calvin Stewart; her mother, Lucille Hinson; and two sisters-in-law, Peggy Hinson and Sue Stewart.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Stewart will be 3:00 pm Monday, September 26, 2022, at Second Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Brian Saxon and Rev. Larry Helm. Burial will follow Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 2:00pm – 3:00pm, one hour prior to the service, at the church and other times at the home of Mrs. Stewart's daughter, Wanda Knight. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church, 1426 Great Falls Hwy., Lancaster, SC 29720.
