LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Joan Ramsey Bailey, age 90, passed away, Sunday, December 15, 2024. She was born October 30, 1934, in Hartsville, SC, the daughter of the late Alton Berry Ramsey and Beatrice Heustess Ramsey and was the wife of the late Ned Crawford Bailey, Sr. Mrs. Bailey retired from USC-Lancaster where she made many lifelong friends. She was a graduate of Columbia College and was very active in the Lancaster Tennis Association.  She had a quick wit and loved to laugh. She enjoyed shopping and also played in several bridge clubs. She loved life, her children and grandchildren, and her dogs, Angel and Meggie. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Bailey is survived by her son, Ned C. "Skip: Bailey, Jr.; two daughters, Alison Bailey Barnes and her husband, Roy Joseph "Joe" Barnes of Greer, SC and Sara Bailey McDonald and her husband, Jonathan of Charleston, SC; four grandchildren, Lindsey Barnes Ebert (Colby), Bailey Joseph Barnes (Genina "Gigi"), Dixon Crawford Hill, and Grayham Bradford Hill; three great grandchildren, Evans Bailey Ebert, Banks Bradford Ebert and Evie Madison Barnes, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ned C. Bailey, Sr.; her parents; and her daughter in law, Laura Bailey.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Bailey will be 2:00 pm Thursday, December 19, 2024, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Randy Hatcher and Rev. Tim Barnes. Burial will follow at Westside City Cemetery.
