GILBERT, SC – Mr. James Wilson "Jimmy" Steele Jr., age 56, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2023. He was born October 6, 1966, in Lancaster, a son of the late James Wilson Steele, Sr. and Evelyn Hunter Steele and was the husband of Susan Welch Steele. Family was most important to Jimmy, and he loved them all dearly.  He was a graduate of Lancaster High School. Jimmy graduated with an Associate's Degree in Engineering from York Technical College. Jimmy was an avid Gamecock fan. He was a perfectionist who loved fixing things, fabrication work, grilling, bike riding, boating and fishing at the river, and tinkering with things.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Susan Steele; his son, Austin Steele and his wife, Megan; a daughter, Anna Steele and her fiancé', Austin Wemes; two step daughters, Lauren Beesley (Nick) of Auburn, AL, and Sydney Crosby of Bristol, United Kingdom; two brothers, Chris Steele (Mandie) of York, SC and Timmy Steele of Lancaster; a granddaughter, Lena Beesley; an aunt, Judy Humphries; several nieces and nephews; and extended family.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents.

The Celebration of Life Graveside Service for Jimmy will be 11:00 am Friday, March 3, 2023, at Camp Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00- 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at Burgess Funeral Home.
