LANCASTER, SC :::::::: Mr. Jimmy D. Kennington, age 75, died August 13, 2012 at his home. He was born June 5, 1937 in Lancaster County, the son of the late Charles Crawford Kennington and Ethel Mae Adams Kennington and was the husband of the late Edeltraud Unger Kennington. Mr. Kennington was a Retired Sgt. First Class for the United States Army having served 37 years and retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Pleasant Dale Baptist Church. Mr. Kennington is survived by a son, Jimmy Wayne Kennington of Lancaster, 2 daughters, Cynthia "Sissy" Denton and her husband Michael "Bear" of Lancaster, and Phyllis Kennington and her fianc' Mark Preuss of Lancaster, a brother, Charles L. Kennington and his wife Mary of Newberry, 2 step sons, Peter Unger and Heinze Unger both of Germany, 4 step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren. Mr. Kennington was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Billy C. Kennington and Jack D. Kennington. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Kennington will be 2:00 pm Friday, August 17, 2012 at Pleasant Dale Baptist Church by Rev. Jessie Adams and Rev. Jack Nunn. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park. The Family of Mr. Kennington will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 pm at Pleasant Dale Baptist Church and the family suggests memorials may be made to at Charity of One's Choice.
