Mr. James Thomas Roe (Jim) born April 16,1933 in Newark NJ, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2023 at his home in Lancaster, SC.  Jim is survived by his wife of 65 years Marion McFarlane Roe and sons, James Roe (Meg) of Devon PA, Jeffrey Roe (Gigi) of Long Valley NJ, and Gregory Roe (Kristi) of Waxhaw NC, and 6 grandchildren whom he adored, Chris, Katie, Kyle, Lauren, Spencer, and Harper Roe.

He was a graduate of Kearny (NJ) High School, and Fairleigh Dickinson University where he received a degree in accounting.  He grew up in Kearny, was a star athlete and married his high school sweetheart.  He served in the US Army during the Korean War, where he was stationed at Governor's Island NY.  They moved to Summit NJ after they were married and then settled in Watchung NJ where they raised three sons.

He was president of the Watchung Little League for many years.  He was a little league coach who always had winning teams thanks to his sons and their friends.  All the kids wanted to be on his team, his passion was coaching and working with kids.  On most summer nights he'd rush home from his commute to Manhattan, to get to the field in time for the game.

He worked as a corporate accountant for Stone and Webster Inc. in New York City until his retirement in 1997.  Upon retirement, he and Marion moved to Cape Charles on the beautiful Eastern Shore of Virginia, where his family and grandchildren spent many vacations there at their home on the beach. He was a congregant of Hungars Episcopal Church, Bridgetown, Virginia where he served as Treasurer and Vestry member.  He was a member of the Cape Charles Rotary Club, and American Legion Post 56 Cheriton. He enjoyed having breakfast every Wednesday morning with the " Old Men's Breakfast Club".  He and Marion recently moved to Lancaster SC to be nearer to family.

There was a private family Service held for family at Burgess Funeral Home in Lancaster.
