Obituary

FORT MILL, SC –Mr. James "Jim" Henry Bross, age 77, of Indian Land, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 18, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 1, 1946, in Cleveland, OH, the son of Betty J. Jackson and the late John H. Bross. Jim grew up in Springfield, OH and met his wife, Carol in Junior High School. They married in June of 1967. Jim graduated from Ohio University in 1969 and entered The United States Air Force in 1970. He became a pilot and flew the

C-141 Starlifter with great pride, he achieved the rank of Captain, and after 5 years of service he returned to civilian life. Jim worked for A.E. Staley and Tate and Lyle for 32 years. Jim and Carol retired and moved to Sun City Carolina Lakes in South Carolina in 2007. He loved playing golf, bowling, billiards, Texas Hold'em poker, and enjoyed spending time with his family on their yearly vacations.

Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carol Bross; two sons, Jerrod Bross (Wendy) and Chris (Jenifer); four grandchildren, Morgan, Jansen, Addie, and Cassie; his mother, Betty J. Bross; and his brother, William R. Bross (Jennifer).

The Celebration of Life Service for Jim will be 10:30 am Saturday, March 2, 2024, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home. Inurnment will be private at a later date.

The family will receive friends following the service at Burgess Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jim's name to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA  22116-7023 or to Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Southminster, 8919 Park Rd Suite 1000, Charlotte, NC 28210.
