LANCASTER, SC:::::::::: Mr. Jerry A. Plyler, age 74, died Saturday, December 24, 2016 at CMC-Pineville. He was born September 7, 1942 in Lancaster, a son of the late Bert Plyler and Pearl Steele Plyler and was the husband of Irene Lavigne Plyler. He was a graduate of the University of SC with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and retired from Duracell Corporation. He was a proud Vietnam veteran, serving our country in the United States Army. Mr. Plyler was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion and the USC Alumni Association. He was also a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, drinking strong coffee and was a member of Saint Catherine Catholic Church.

Mr. Plyler is survived by his wife, Irene Lavigne Plyler; two sons, Bryan Plyler and his wife, Lisa, of Lugoff, and Brett Plyler and his wife, Brittani, of Lancaster; a brother, David Plyler and his wife, Linda, of Lancaster; two sisters, Joyce Harkey and Nancy Johnson and her husband, Mendel, both of Lancaster; six grandchildren, Hannah Plyler, Zachary Plyler, Anna Grace Plyler, Blaine Plyler, Briggs Plyler and Brynn Plyer; a sister-in-law, Norma Pariseau of Bedford, NH; and an aunt, Mary Steele of Lancaster.

Mr. Plyler was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ronald Plyler.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Plyler will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Saint Catherine Catholic Church by Father Javier Heredia. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 8:00 pm Tuesday evening, December 27, 2016 at Burgess Funeral Home with a Rosary service at 5:30pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Catherine Catholic Church, 720 West Meeting Street, Lancaster, SC 29720.
