LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. Jerry Evin Mungo, Sr. age 78, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022, at his home.  He was born July 12, 1943, in Lancaster, SC, a son of the late Robert Evin Mungo and Sadie Faile Mungo. Mr. Mungo owned and operated Mungo Upholstery.  He loved fishing, building things, his dogs, and woodworking; he built a car from scratch.  Mr. Mungo was a super generous man that loved his children, grandchildren, and he was adored by his family.  He was a member of Hyde Park Baptist Church.

Mr. Mungo is survived by his daughter, Deidra Washburn (Billy); four sons, Jerry Mungo, Jr., Joseph "Dean" Mungo, Robert "Gene" Mungo (Debbie), and Wilton "Buddy" Mungo (Andrea); four brothers; six sisters; thirteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a special friend, Stella Sims; and a large extended family.

Mr. Mungo was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Largent Mungo; a stepdaughter, Cindy; a daughter-in-law, Crystal Mungo; a brother-in-law, Russell Ellis.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Mungo will be 3:00 pm Friday, January 28, 2022, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Charlie Simpson.  Interment will follow at a later date.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm-3:00 pm, one hour prior to service, at Burgess Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a local animal rescue group, Lancaster SPCA of Lancaster, PO Box 3042, Lancaster, SC 29721.
