LANCASTER, SC –Mr. Jerry Richardson Couch "Red", age 83, founder and owner of DC Cycle passed away Tuesday February 27, 2024. He was born December 7, 1940, to the late Raymond Couch and Frankie McManus Couch and was the husband of Shelby Hunter Couch. Mr. Couch worked for Bowater for 22 years while he also operated his motorcycle business. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1959-1963. Mr. Couch enjoyed riding motorcycles, reading, playing guitar, watching westerns, and was a history buff. Traveling and planning excursions for his family and friends was something he loved to do. Family was most important to him, and he was a devoted loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Mr. Couch is survived by his wife and love of his life of 56 years, Shelby Couch; his two children, Jerri Lynn Sanders (Todd) and Bobby Couch (Lisa); five grandchildren, Alyssa Allen (Darren), Savannah Sanders (Carey Quarles), Brady Kirk (Gracee McManus), Kenley Bowers (Nick), and Grayson Sanders (Nathaniel Purser); three great grandchildren, Cooper Bryce Allen, Canaan Reece Allen, Reece Frankie Purser, and one on the way, Sutton Ray Purser; brother, Donnie Couch; a sister, Betty Gruner (Ken); two grandpups, Lily and Gizzy; and a large extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Linda Hinson and JoAnn Knight.
The Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Couch will be 2:00 pm Friday, March 1, 2024, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Tyler Douglas and Mr. Jeremiah Lily. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Burgess Funeral Home. For those who wish, memorials may be made to American Legion, 823 S Main St, Lancaster, SC 29720.
