LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. Jerry Michael Blackmon, age 71, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022.  He was born November 30, 1950, in Monroe, NC, a son of the late Johnnie Carson Blackmon and Mary Louise Gregory Blackmon.  Jerry was a strong, quiet man and enjoyed working on his farm in the Buford community.  Jerry loved football and played on the Lancaster High School football team as a youth.  Farming was a passion that grew as he worked on his Dad's farm in Lancaster.  Upon graduation, he took the challenge of acquiring his own farm.  He schooled more and became an electrician, working in Charlotte, NC.

His son, Michael and daughter, Beth, were what made many days sweeter on the farm.  His former wife, Cathy, became a steadfast friend as they worked together to parent and to love these two shared gifts.  He is remembered as a warm brother to his six sisters and one brother.

A student of his Mother's Love for God, he learned the strength possible from prayers.  May he continue in heaven where working days on a farm, create a smile.

Jerry is survived by a son, Johnnie Michael Blackmon; and five sisters, Rochelle Helms (Willis), Donna Cadieu (Jim), Sherry Hill (Terry), Kaye Francis Carnes (Russell), and Novice Sigmon.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lisa Beth Blackmon; a brother, Terry Blackmon and a sister, Johncy Ghant.

The Celebration of Life Graveside Funeral Service for Jerry will be 2:00 pm Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Lancaster Memorial Park officiated by Rev. Jesse Adams and Rev. Mark Carnes.

There will be a visitation of family and friends from 12:30-1:00 pm Saturday at Pleasant Dale Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Dale Baptist Church, 133 S. Potter Road, Lancaster, SC  29720.
