INDIAN LAND, SC ~ Mr. Jeffrey "Jeff" Edward Parker, 73, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2020, at his home.  He was born on September 17, 1946, in Columbus, OH, the son of the late Robert Parker and Grace Richert Parker Heller and was the husband of Heather Moore Parker.  Mr. Parker taught Physical Education and coached soccer, softball, track and field, basketball and golf.  He enjoyed developing personal relationships with students throughout the years.  Mr. Parker was an adjunct professor at Capital City University, where he was inducted into the NJCAA (National Junior College Athletics Association) Hall of Fame at Columbus State University and won 2 National Championships for Golf. While living in South Carolina, he was the Indian Land High School announcer at baseball and basketball games and a few wrestling matches and also served as the President of the Booster Club. Mr. Parker also loved traveling and was a Disney Addict.  Please read the below comments from former students and others whose life was impacted by Jeff.

• He was a wonderful man.  He was my gym teach in elementary school and then my high school track coach.  I moved to a new school in Columbus and I was able to have him there too. He was a wonderful, kind and caring man.  He always offered words of encouragement to me and my family via facebook.  He was very special, and you were lucky to have him everyday.

Mr. Parker is survived by his wife of 50 years, Heather Moore Parker; two sons, Dale Parker of Myrtle Beach and Jason Parker of Marysville, OH; three grandchildren, Seth Parker, Corben Parker and Reese Parker; a great granddaughter, Camilla Parker; a brother, Kenny Parker of Columbus, OH; a special daughter, Janna Young; three nephews; a niece; and very special friends, Marlene McKee, Ginny Hunnell, Joey Robinson, Rob & JoLynn Dougherty and the Indian Land Baseball Team.

Mr. Parker is preceded in death by his parents; and his stepfather, Malcolm Heller.
