LANCASTER, SC :::::::: Mr. Jefferson "Jeff" Jackson Sims, age 81, died December 6, 2012 at Lancaster Convalescent Center. He was born December 27, 1930 in Lancaster County, the son of the late Roy J. Sims and Annie Hinson Sims and was the husband of the late Dorothy Mangum Sims. Mr. Sims retired from Springs Industries and was an avid hunter and fishermen and a former member of Beaver Creek Hunt Club and Cedar Creek Hunt Club. Mr. Sims doctors referred to him as "Lazarus" because he persevered through many difficult health trials, loved to watch NASCAR and was a member of Fork Hill Baptist Church.
Mr. Sims is survived by 2 sons, Harvey E. Sims of Kershaw, and Donald L. Sims of Orlando, FL, 3 sisters, Joyce Payne and Sylvia Fields both of Heath Springs and Sue Williams of Wallace, SC, a brother, Albertus Sims of Stallings, NC, 1 granddaughter, Donna Wiggins, and a great granddaughter, Allison Wiggins.
Mr. Sims was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Leroy, William, George, and Bruce Sims, and 3 sisters, Annie Barrett, Ruth Gardner, and Patsy Beaty.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Sims will be 3:00 pm Saturday, December 8, 2012 at The Chapel of Hartley-Burgess Funeral Home by Rev. Tim Abernathy. Burial will follow at Fork Hill Baptist Church. The Family of Mr. Sims will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral time at the funeral home and the family suggests memorials may be made to Fork Hill Baptist Church, 125 Fork Hill Road, Heath Springs, SC 29058.
